Puppy Protocol

On house training, Libby and the Art of Humility.

House-training puppies! The thought of it should strike fear into the hearts of many, and to be honest I forgot how grueling of a process it is. But, as I am always attempting to be an efficiency guru, I made certain to outfit my Carhartt jacket with an older pair of AirPods and listen to some great titles while I’m waiting for the dogs to…well, do their business!

Libby…this is a piece of technology I can support! A free app linked to your library card with thousands of free books and free audio book selections…did I say free? This app has single-handedly gotten me through hours (and hours) of driving at all times of day and night. I recall arriving at a southern-Indianapolis hotel at 1:30 AM for a morning appointing and sitting in the parking lot to finish my first-time listening of The Undoing Project - one of my top five books. Listening to how Daniel and Amos drifted apart and Amos calling Danny telling him he was dying…heartbreaking. Hundreds of hours of audio books on topics such as Checklists and Minimalistic Efficiency has passed time while I wasn’t able to accomplish anything else but to listen. Libby is truly a priceless jewel that in some way or another saved me mentally many times over, and even this very day!

Humility can be practiced, but at times is also thrust upon us. Your time not being your own but dictated by a puppy-schedule can knock you down a peg or two. Convincing a dog that snow-covered grass and not an area rug is the best potty-place takes time and patience. Libby…back to the rescue! Nine Lies About Work is the latest title I listened to, and is very close to being one of the most inspiring and encouraging books I’ve had the pleasure to experience. Highly recommended if you reckon yourself a free-thinking leader! Thank you Marcus and Ashely!

In the end, we all must participate in things that are boring, frustrating and maybe even ‘beneath’ us. For me, hot coffee in a thermos and a great audio book on Libby can transform drudgery into delight!

I hope you find your Default Life!
