Love the Way You Lie!

Overcoming the Ladders, Magicians, and Robots that lead to dishonest resumes.
In a recent article on Indeed they estimate that 40% of people LIE on their resume. I have also read that, depending on the level of ‘exaggeration’ you consider lying, it could be closer to 70%.
I would love your perspective on why this might be but here are my thoughts…
Factors to consider that attribute to dishonesty and exaggeration:
Promotion and Growth: Many people in the workforce are looking for personal and professional growth opportunities, and unless you have a fantastic and forward-thinking manager who puts you forward for a promotion you may find it very difficult to be seen as more than someone to fill your current position. Job Seekers may see exaggeration as their only way out of their current role! (Ladder Effect 🪜)
Breaking out of the “resume box”: Changing careers may seem even more impossible than a promotion! (Living this one!) How can one even attempt switching careers without significant expense in certificates + experience or even a degree!? Utilizing a thesaurus and some creative-writing tips, I can come up with many ways to curate my experience and expertise to your needs! (Magician Effect 🪄)
Overcoming AI: AI…you can’t get away from it! I was just alerted to another AI-in-HR course to enroll in. We are now trying to find ways to overcome a problem we as a society have caused! In the attempt to beat the algorithms and achieve consideration as a candidate your very humanity could be in jeopardy! (Robot Effect 🤖)
