Tech Minimal? - Use Cash!

There is more than one way to become digitally minimal!
I was biding some time at a great little coffee shop in South Lyonsville, MI when I decided to use cash instead of my credit card for a coffee (Brazil roast in fact…very good!). The cost of the coffee was three dollars and some odd cents. I had a momentary panic-attack when I poured the contents of my change box I carried that I wouldn’t be able to quickly/smartly count out the correct change with waiting barista looking on. 😵💫 Luckily, my elementary education came flooding back and I was spared the embarrassment and enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee!
Subscribing to digital minimalism and tech independence seems mostly to aim toward the digital devices you have near you at all time. I would argue digital watches, credit cards, e-Ink planners, and GPS systems are all relatively recent inventions that have moved us away from sweeping second hands, coin satchels, paper planners, and the real paper maps (remember those?) you can grab at most state rest-areas. Nowadays, instead of asking a wise older person in our lives we can trust for advice we turn to Chat GPT, and with some personalized uploaded content, create a digital-grandpa!
In an upcoming blog I will be offering some comparisons between your phone and cruising around your local grocery store! Until then, take a look around your life and consider…if electrical power went out and all these extremely useful electronic devices became expensive paperweights, how would you replace their function?
To enhance your analog life, please consider purchasing one of our
cedar journals…they don’t have batteries to recharge, so you can recharge yours!
Enjoy your Sunday!
