The rollercoaster of life!
Human beings are interesting creatures! One minute we feel as though we have single-handedly summited Mount Everest and the next moment we are George Bailey standing at the bridge convinced the world would be better without us.
This past Friday was “Quitters Day” when, as urban legend tells us, New Year’s Resolutions begin to dissolve. After all the promises-to-self and hopes-for-better, our old routine kicks in and we realize the new year will be filled with much of the same as last year—same job, same house, same challenges, same, same, same! The year began on The Summit and less than two weeks later we are on the bridge. Well…maybe not for everyone! A friend of mine has resolved to read a book a month to replace the cell phone ‘death-scroll’ he felt trapped in every evening. As of current reports he is on track to complete his January book selection! He’s excited and I’m very happy for him!
There will be people in your life that keep their resolutions, so be happy for them! There will be friends and family who will be excited to find new cooking recipes, new music, discover a new coffee shop or card game. Whatever that ‘new’ thing is that excites and rejuvenates them, be happy for them, even if it’s old news for you. If you recall in my blog “Old School is Okay”, I rarely find anything new to me that’s not already several years old! LOL! So if you find something fresh and exciting to energize you this year, you can bet that I will be happy for you!
